DOCTRINE
We Are Fundamental – By the word fundamental we mean first of all, that we hold to the those basic truths which are clearly taught in the Bible and which have been held by Godly Christians for hundreds of years, and secondly, that we are distinct from those who maintain unbiblical doctrine or unbiblical practice.
We are Non-Denominational – By the term non-denominational we indicate that we hold to the oneness of all true believers in Christ as being one body in Christ and thus do not follow special teachings or administrative authority of a particular denomination or group. We hold the Word of God as final and only authority on all matters of Christian faith.
Statement of Doctrine –
We believe that the scripture of the Old and New Testaments is the verbally inspired word of God and is inerrant in the original writings and that it is of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and that He is the true God and true man.
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are sinners in thought, word, and deed.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of his shed blood.
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in his present life as High Priest and Advocate for us.
We believe in “the blessed hope,” the personal, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, eternally. They immediately receive the Holy Spirit who abides in them through life.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.
PURPOSE
The ultimate purpose of the camp is stated in the Bible in Colossians 1:18-19, which reads as follows: “… that in all things He (Christ) might have the pre-eminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell.” Our camp theme verse contains a similar thought. “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, the Lord’s name is to be praised”
(Psalm 113:3).
Four major objectives of the camp aim toward the purpose and they are as follows:
1. Educational Objective – Planetarium programs, illustrated science lectures, museum tours, science camps for school students and families, and summer camps provide opportunity for study in many areas of science, and thus produce a greater appreciation for the handiwork of our mighty Creator.
2. Gospel Objective – The good news of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is proclaimed through regular preaching and counseling from the Word of God so that visitors and campers may obtain that rest and peace of soul provided for them through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
3. Growth Objective – Vital truths are explained through consistent teaching of the Word of God for the spiritual growth and maturing of young believers.
4. Physical Objective – Wholesome recreation activities, nourishing food, and cooperative projects are provided to develop the mind and body for our useful service for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
OPERATION
HOW IS THE CAMP BEING DEVELOPED, MAINTAINED, AND OPERATED?
Development – The camp is not sponsored by any denomination or group of churches. Funds are not solicited from individuals, businesses, or churches, but are obtained by the gracious hand of God who touches the hearts of his people with desire to share in the work. Our part is to pray and bring the needs to the Lord and His part is to provide according to His will and His promises. We invite you to come and see what he has provided.
Maintenance – The maintenance of the camp is accomplished through the voluntary labor of those living at the camp and other interested persons.
Operation – The operational expenses of the camp, such as food, utilities, repairs, office expenses, etc. are met through the camp fees charged to the campers and the balance through gifts from
individual believers or churches.
Organizational Structure – Camp Sunrise is incorporated under the laws of the state of Georgia as a non-profit charitable, educational, religious corporation and all gifts to the camp are tax-deductible.
